Since the 1970s, sneakers have been a significant part of the music culture. The two genres to popularize the use of sneakers are hip-hop and rock ‘n roll. They were further popularized by athletes, particularly Michael Jordan, whose line of shoes was released in the 1980s. Fans of Jordan and big names in the music culture began collecting them as memorabilia.
In urban settings, sneakers gave people status symbols with the hip-hop movement giving sneakers street credibility. Collectors, or “Sneakerheads,” can distinguish between real sneakers and replicas. Because of the importance of sneakers to collectors and fanatics, Gurson Sidana has made sure that his stores can provide them with precisely what they need.
Gurson Sidana, better known as G, had always worked in industries that revolved around fashion. G would grow up entrenched in the businesses his family grew, spending a good deal of time around their stores. As he grew older, he would start up helping around the store during the weekends, school breaks, and occasional holidays. When he came of age, he became the CEO of GB Sneakers, a footwear store that specializes in sneakers for men, women, and children of all shapes and sizes.
Because of G’s passion for sneakers and his management, GB Sneakers grew as a company. Not only had business boomed, but they were able to add three more branches in the city of New York. Two of them were set up in Jamaica, one branch available in the Jamaica Colosseum Mall and the other in Rochdale Shopping Center. On Jackson Street, Hempstead, one can find Sneaker Terminal. The fourth store can be found near the shores of Rockaway Beach. Because the weekends are the only time that people can go out for shopping, G has kept all his stores running from Monday to Sunday.
GB Sneakers offers popular sneaker brands like Nike and Jordan. They are among the first stores to receive the latest releases by both brands. However, they also offer other popular shoe brands such as Converse, Diadora, Fila, Puma, Reebok, Timberland, and Vans, among many others. While the brands they advertise are already tempting enough to bring in customers, G has prepared a service staff that can attend to their every need, and to answer any questions they might have that will have them satisfied when they leave the stores.
The quality of GB Sneakers has not only caught the attention of hardcore sneakerheads but even celebrities. Rappers Lil Uzi Vert and Meek Mill have visited their branches, as well as TV personality Kim Kardashian. And as of recently, it has signed on American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ son, Justin Combs, as a business partner, solidifying its line-up of competent leaders.
With the ever-growing reputation of GB Sneakers attracting sneakerheads from around the world, G has had to create platforms that collectors can easily use to inquire and make purchases.
