Nike Basketball will be releasing a new LeBron 18 to kick off the month of May that nods to the Los Angeles Lakers’ time in Minneapolis from 1947–1960. LeBron James has recently previewed another colorway of his Nike LeBron 18. Instead of purple and gold detailing, however, the latest take on James’ signature sneaker ostensibly nods to the Los Angeles Lakers’ time in Minneapolis.
As the Minneapolis Lakers, the squad wore a powder blue uniform featuring “University Gold” trimming. Both hues are borrowed on James’ latest signature sneaker as midsoles, Air Max-accompanied tongues and detailing on the molded heel structure sport the light blue tone; the shoe’s inner-bootie indulges in a vibrant gold that also appears throughout the “Black” Flyknit upper. Outer space-reminiscent “Concord” enter the mix across the rear, forgoing the opportunity to don any “MPLS” branding. However, sock-liners and the Airbags on the tongue don modern-day Lakers-style graphics nodding to King James.
